How We Got Started

Bare Mountain Retreat has developed over 5 miles of trails over the past several years and we were looking for a way to show them off to a larger audience. The idea of a nude fun run that was different from others was suggested. Several members went to work and the Streak to the Peak was born.

2018 - Our First Race

The first Steak to the Peak was held on September 9, 2018, with a limited number of entries available. 38 men and women undertook the challenging course including 20 club members and 18 visitors. The event was such a success that the number of entries was doubled for the following year.

2019 Race

The 2019 race was interesting. We made changes to the racecourse and more than doubled the number of runners. However, on race day an unusual September storm rolled in drenching the mountain in rain. Nevertheless, our intrepid runners braved the inclement weather, were serenaded to live mid-race fiddle music and raced to the top of the mountain. There was even a marriage proposal at the conclusion of the race.

2020 Race

Unfortunately, like many other activities in 2020, the Streak to the Peak was canceled due to COVID 19 concerns.

2021 Race

2021 saw the return of the Streak to the Peak. The race was run under near perfect conditions. Most of the runners joined us for the Saturday night pre-race dinner and many of those spent the night camping on the beautiful Bare Mountain grounds.

2022 Race

The 2022 saw a large gathering beginning Saturday afternoon and evening. The race was very competitive. Perhaps the most interesting fact was the large number of family and friends that were present to support their favorite racer. Lots of fun hearing all the cheers as the runners passed by.

2023 Race

The 2023 race had pre-race challenges due to many heavy thunderstorms and the remnants of hurricane Hillary damaging the trails. However, our stellar trail crew work hard to have the race course ready. Racers were treated to a glorious sunny and warm weekend with near perfect temperatures to start the race.

2024 Race

The large number of wildfires burning in Idaho pumped smoke into Boise for weeks puting the race in jeopardy. A thunderstorm 90 minutes before the race helped clear the air and the race to the top of Bare Mountain was on.

2025 Race

A banner year for Streak to The Peak, with the highest number of starters and finishers on record. The clubhouse lawn was a sea of color, filled with tents and racers enjoying the weekend. After a brisk streak to The Peak racers and spectators alike enjoyed a warm and sunny afternoon by the pool, and for the first time post-race Yoga on the clubhouse lawn.

2026 Race

Another fantastic year on the mountain. The weather held out and the forecast for cold, wind, and rain diminished and we had a beautiful weekend. For the second year in a row the men’s masters course record was broken, and we also had our youngest winner of the race at 21. Yoga continues to be a big hit, as was the impromptu dance party at the pool Saturday night.
